Business is no longer about just providing a product that brings value, it's about being a company that adds value to the world.  Social responsibility is important but what are words without action?  I had the chance to speak with Crissy Lind of Laughing Man Coffee and learn all about living cool with a mandated espresso in hand and an extra shot of giving back because #community.

Laughing Man Coffee is a company of value and they're a company of action, taking social responsibility and giving back to a level that is just as cool as our fav girl Crissy Lind!

At Laughing Man Crissy does everything from hiring, to accounting, to HR, and the list goes on.  Personally, she loves hiking, the outdoors, and photography. Let me tell you, the girl has an eye for colors and structures.  Have a look at her personal Instagram page @crissylind for some serious inspo and a new girl crush.

Originally from Seattle, coffee is in her blood. Crissy made the decision to move to NYC for fun and thought she would only be in the city for one year and after that, she would move back home.  (Who can relate?) Seven years later she is still here, can’t imagine living in another city, and thriving.

Laughing Man is a mission driven company.  Can you tell me a little bit about it?

Our mission is simple. The Laughing Man Foundation supports coffee farming communicates by investing in programs that clear the way to health, growth and success for coffee farmers and their families.

What do you enjoy most about your role at Laughing Man?

By far, the community. I get to work in the cafes for a few hours in the morning and it's my favorite part of the day. I love being able to connect and hear stories from locals to travelers from across the world. I honestly believe that a person can make or break someone's day. To be able to start someone's day off with a smile is one of the best feelings in the world.

That’s amazing, speaking of starting of starting the day off; do you have a morning routine?

I have to have an espresso as soon as I step into the cafe every morning. I feel like that is the most important part of my day! (Okay, not really but it's for sure up there). In the Spring I love to go on runs in my neighborhood in Brooklyn. The trees and flowers are in full bloom and it's just the best feeling.

JAKA JAMU has been available for sale at Laughing Man since the beginning of the year, what are your thoughts on the brand?

I LOVE JAKA JAMU. The flavors are perfectly balanced. What word comes straight to mind when I think of it is "refreshing". And what's better than having a beverage that is clean? I have no guilt after drinking one (or two).

Are there any socially responsible brands that you are excited about right now?

Craft + Foster is one of my favorite brands right now. They make the most amazing candles and room sprays that are made with a natural Soy Wax and are hand poured. I love their product so much that I actually teamed up with them and created our very own Laughing Man Candle! The candle was Inspired by the diverse customs, landscapes, and aromas of Ethiopia. What makes this candle even more amazing is that they actually donate their profits from the candle to the Laughing Man Foundation.

The Laughing Man Coffee Company has two locations in Manhattan.  In 2018 they provided 40 college scholarships and 100 homes.  Their coffee is the best in the world (so I think).  Stop in for a guilt free espresso or a JAKA JAMU!  Plus, you’re basically giving to charity when you walk through their doors.  How many people can say they got a coffee and helped provide scholarships to those who need it – all in the time it took to stop for their morning brew!
